Nancy’s support of the home’s administration her wisdom and guidance are valuable assets to Harvest's mission.

dorothy Dorothy Parsons was recognized by the board of the Virginia Association of Children’s Homes as Distinguished Child Care Worker of the year for 2015. Dorothy is a faithful Christian and uses her faith to improve the lives of hurting young people. Harvest's Emergency and Assessment Shelter was originally built to make our long-term homes stable placements for long-term kids. In other words, we keep the chaos of 45-day placements at the Emergency Shelter. For ten years Dorothy has diligently worked to provide calm to the chaos. Dorothy knows how to maintain control and restore order when things get out of control. She is a mentor to new hires and diligently attempts to teach them to be consistent with rules and consequences. During the past ten years, Dorothy has served 690 children in our Emergency and Assessment Shelter. She is always willing to come in extra when needed and works numerous over-time hours when necessary. She is faithful to this ministry and to our mission.

Rick Stone has been involved with Harvest Child Care Ministries since our inception in July 1992. Even before we opened our doors, Rick volunteered helping clean, paint, and set up the facility we rented at that time. Since then, Rick has continued to serve on special "service project" days. As a regional manager for Dr. Pepper Snapple Group he has many prestigious contacts. He has always been willing to use these contacts for the benefit of Harvest (for fundraising and in-kind donations). He has been involved in every special event we have ever had including fundraising banquets, donor cook-outs, and our annual Christmas party for the children. He works hard in the set-up, implementation, and clean-up of these special events. Rick also enjoys working promotional functions such as church appointments and our booth at the National Convention. He has invested many hours to assure the success of Harvest and our children. He was recognized and honored by the Virginia Association of Children’s Homes as the Volunteer of the Year.
